Did crime increase on Christmas?
Did crime where you work increase, decrease, or stay the same on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day? Did people react differently to you than usual (with more cheer and goodwill, or alternatively with more anger)?

We dont have crime in my little suburban BORING bedroom community.
What we do have is Tons of accidents especially a hit and run in a CHURCH parking lot on CHRISTMAS EVE, we have domestics of the usual yelling about stoopid shit, we have 'shots fired' calls that are actually beautiful fireworks going off, we have tons of deer vs. car accidents, and a bunch of DUIs....
I hate when people spew their "Merry Christmas Officer" uh yeah dumbass, Iam JEWISH. Happy freakin Chanukah...
Seriously it doesnt bother me but dont expect me to be happy, Iam a scrooge...A monday morning lunatic, disturbed from time to time. Temporary catatonic madman on occasion..
Lightning crashes a new mother cries, her placenta falls to the floor. The angel opens her eyes, the confusion sets in before the doctor can even close the door..
The views and comments of E-man are mine and mine alone and therefore might not reflect the views of others or people in my current department. As such since this is still America I can post what I want without fear of retribution. I think.

I wouldn't say that people showed more goodwill, or anything like that... But we certainly saw a reduction in things happening, if for nothing other than the fact that we didn't have a lot of people out and about on these two days (I was only dispatched to 4 calls on X-mas Eve, and 2 on X-mas Day, whereas in a normal shift I'd probably get about 10 calls).
Most of the Christmas calls (for us) involved family disturbances and domestic violence (just because it's Christmas, doesn't mean they don't stay at home trying to kill each other). We also had a lot of traffic accidents, but we are still cleaning up from a blizzard, so that could have been a contributing factor.

I'm not voting because there is a world of difference between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

i just know the whole week was worse than normal
http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

It sounds like we work at the same place!
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Do you have "JEW" tattooed on your forehead? Why would anyone know that you're Jewish, and why would "Merry Christmas" bother you? It's just a day, whether it has religious significance to you or it's just a time-and-a-half Federal Holiday.
I hope you would reply to people with "Happy Chanukah." I certainly wouldn't mind if you said that to me."I'm not a coward,

I'd like to think that if I was,
I would pass"

I didn't vote, but where I work the security guard was telling us that we definitely had an increase in car burglaries in our parking garages.
I'll never figure out why people leave purses, laptop computers, expensive leather coats, and even wallets laying on car seats
Mostly they seemed to be after expensive aftermarket radios though - People forget to take the faceplates off.
Of course, that doesn't excuse the lack of security patrols in our garages - That place is as secure as a steak in a lion den.

Honestly, we aren't very busy on either day (maybe a bit more on X-mas Eve with the shopping traffic and the stores being open and all, but it is still a pretty dead day)... We consider it almost like an unofficial 48 hour truce between the bad and the blue around here.
Of course, for us, New Years is a vastly different story... might even get some good "stick time" in on that evening.

Ummmm, I think he meant that people may try to play the "holiday" card, or try to make you feel guilty for busting them?
I got that at work on Christmas Eve.....people want a certain answer, when they don't get it....they give you a very snotty..."Well, Merry Christmas to you!"Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

christmas eve no murder.......christmas day...murder, plenty of calls both days.......during one altercation with a lot of people on eve, a father leaned over and whispered "merry christmas" very sarcastically to me.......people don't change due to the season

Christmas eve we have a lot of garage burglaries, and thefts from the gas stations since all the other stores were closed. I couldn't believe that Walmart was closed, I thought they were always open.
The statements and opinions made here are of Copper51's only. They do not reflect my department or the city I work for.
So lay off, I'm offduty and spouting off.

Hello,
In my area crime stayed the same on X-mas evening & day (=high - criminals are in paradise here) - As always they continued burning cars in bad suburbs and attacking police & firefighters when they came...
) Welcome to France!...
The only thing that really increase was the suicides rate these last days... Lots of lonely, depressed or old people killed themselves... Often, X-Mas is a really bad day for them...
Best regards,
ChouBacca
