New Years Day Traditional Meals
Do you have a special/traditional meal on NY day?
In the South, NY day dinner will include blackeye peas and cabbage (prepared many different ways). Tradtionally, they symbolize health and wealth.

i am going to fix a duck with raspberry sauce...
everyone else is going to bring side dishes... then we are having a block party on the beach of all the residents with a pet parade lolhttp://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

CABBAGE!? I grew up on Cabbage and potato soup because we were poor! My Dad was a toolmaker, and as an apprentice didn't make a lot of money until he became a journeyman. Our traditional meal now is ham, mashed potatos, blueberry muffins, green beans, corn, pecan pie, and New York vanilla ice cream.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

I think New York vanilla has more vanilla content.

I don't have one either. I just get the day off of work and I sleep all day from being up all night
Oooooh, i'm one of the few people I know that likes pickled herring. Not many of my friends like it. Funny story, the first time I had it was at my best friends house in high school. Her dad was hoping for a grossed out face when i ate it, but was disappointed when I said it was good

In France, peoples like to eat Foie Gras on toasts, oysters, smoked salmon, and... snails cooked in their cockles with a butter/garlic/parsley sauce (not a joke!) -
Bon appetit!

Yes my wife fixes a "southern traditional" meal on new years day (or close enough due to both of us working for the sheriff's office) but that doesn't mean I have to eat all she cooks, lol
Any Post I make is my opinion only!
I do not have the authority or the permission to post for my Sheriff's Office.
