Would legalizing drugs eliminate the prolem?
Some/many believe that legalizing drugs would do away with the drug problem by eliminating the importing and sales of hard drugs, Etc.
This may be true to a certain extent but IMO, If drug laws were abolished it would open up a new can of worms and this being, there would be more dopeheads, driving, walking and laying around than you could imagine in your wildest dream.

I read that Amsterdam is considering tightening up on their once-loose drugs laws because drug abuse has become soooo bad.

I'm glad you started this thread. Because this topic hasn't been overdone enough. Hell, I think we need about 14 more threads about drug legalization.

Um, legalization would be the way to go. I know when they made alcohol legal again it made 16 million times more drunks out there. Tainted logic, thinking that the amount of people using would increase.

Ya know, I don't think the topic is done yet. Mainly cuz people still seem to advocate for it. As long as that is the case, I think this is never a dead issue. Legalize. right. The dental bills from the crack heads alone would sink the countries insurance companies. You can not possibly compare alcohol and meth or crack. Be liberal all you want, but geez, use your head for what God gave it to you for.

Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,

So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

I have said this time and time again. The should not have rebuilt New Orleans, they shoulda fenced it off, made it into a national prision, throw in all employ guards to patrol the exterior and shoot on site. They can grow pot, make meth kill themselves whatever then in a few years another katrina type storm would come in clean it out and they can start all over

I think we should notify all the Libertarian Radio potheads that this thread has started up again... They may wish to contribute, you think?

HELL NO!!! I agree that it will just create another level of problem people we will have to deal with. The true problem is the addiction, not whether or not something is legal. People are still selling all sorts of legal items on the "black market", stealing all sorts of legal things from legal places. There is a certain element of our society which avoids hard drugs simply because of the legal issues. If the legality "problem" were eliminated, how many more addicts would we have on our hands?
One of the biggest problems with our society today is that we are constantly lowering our standards to meet the deviants of society, lest they feel "uncomfortable" with their deviant status! The true measure of your character is what you choose to do when you think no one is looking.

Most assuredly "NO"! It would solve the "Drug War" problem, but open up an entirely new set problem areas.
But, if the Federal Goverment could tax and control illegal drugs like it taxes and controls tobacco....it probably would. I pray that day never comes.
