Nothing like buying a 4 year old car with 105,000 miles on it. What a steal.

Isn't that the truth! We start our cars at the beginning of the shift and turn them off 8 hours later for the next shift to take over. I don't know what you would equate 8 hours of idling time to in a mileage comparison, but I'd say it at least doubles the odomoter reading. Our cars are very well cared for, and are in good shape. If something is broke, it's fixed before the car goes out again.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Some people like to buy them when they're still painted black and white. It seems that people tend to get out of their way when they're speeding down the freeway.

I like that red Camaro and the price is right, but who are they kidding, "Item has not been tested"???
I'm sure that at least someone has tried to start the engine.

I've been on websites where guys show off their retired police cruisers. One of them was still painted black and white and the kid even took pictures of the "traffic jam" behind him because everyone was "afraid" to pass him. They love tricking people into thinking they're actual cops.
Hell, some of them even put working lights & sirens in them...it's pathetic. I think I found some of them on www.cardomain.com

Yeah, I don't think I've EVER seen an episode of COPS in Dallas - Fort Worth allows them, but I don't think Dallas does. Maybe they did under Bolton

I wonder if he drives it with the light bar on it? I call people like this "Space Cadets", because it's almost like the Star Trek fans dressing up like Spock, driving VW Beetles painted like the Enterprise, and carrying phasors

Not a chance. I don't know about your departments, but our vehicles are driven into the ground. I've personally owned a vehicle (non-police) that had 220,000 miles on it, and it sounded/ran better than most of our police cars do once they reach 30,000 miles.
By the time we get rid of our cars (around 70-90,000 miles) they are piles of crap.
I'd never buy one, cause I know how we treat 'em.
Of course, I may be biased... it seems like my deparment is extra-abusive towards our equipment.
