So am I just PMS'ing?
Ok this commercial seriously just almost made me cry when I saw it on TV.
Depressing Dog Commercial
Is this commercial like unbelievable depressing or am I just PMSing? There’s a promise I need you to make
While I’m gone you take care of the love
And I’ll deal with the hate.
Don’t worry about me; I’ll be all right
Just care for your children and sleep tight
I’ll keep you safe on my watch tonight

It makes me want to go out and get a dog.
Almost.
They are just tugging at your heart strings to encourage you to get a dog and hence, dogfood.

I have to admit I have a soft spot for dogs.

It's good to see that PETA finally managed to infiltrate a major corporation!

Its a great commercial. PETA was just recently charger for animal abuse for warehousing animals and neglecting them. Ironic, isn't it.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Its more like a major corporation is using people's emotional attraction to their pets to induce an influx in retail sales. Its called marketing. Notice they never said how much of the proceeds go to help needy animals, just that a percentage is donated. I'm sure that percentage is miniscule in comparison to the paychecks of the executives in that corporation. I'm not knocking their campaign, the company or anything like that. I am just pointing out that this is simple marketing for the company intended to increase profits, not a drive to raise money for animal shelters.

Either I have no heart, or I'm just not an animal person...........
It's okay, Autumn... you'll turn bitter one day.

You're absolutely right, I recently had a conversation about that very thing. And not to discount their efforts, but frankly, if I were to hear that they regularly donate a specific large sum of money to animal shelters (which they may very well do), it would have more impact on me than knowing that I have to make a purchase in order for them to do so.
Back to the topic, though, yes, that commercial is heartrending, especially the line "but I know that I'm a good dog."
PetFinder is a good resource for finding shelter dogs. Be warned, though, some of the stories of how the dogs (and other pets) ended up in shelters are enough to make you cry.

Nope, I almost cried when I saw it too. Damn David Duchovny, he's been their 'voice' for a while now.
I wonder how much he charges the company to voice the commercials, though? If they got a cheaper actor, would they donate more to shelters? Nope. If you want to help shelters, donate bags of food or other supplies directly. If you can, volunteer. But don't buy a dog food (inferior quality, might I add) just because the company says they donate $0.05 cents a bag or whatever to shelters.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\
