Las Vegas Hotels
I'm considering going to Vegas in a month or so. What are some good places to stay that won't cost me a fortune?
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

I would suggest staying at one of the hotels on Freemont Street. You can save a lot of money and have a great time. The casinos there are fun, the rooms are nice and the strip is not that far away.
I usually stay at the Las Vegas Club, but haven't been in a few years.

I agree with Ronin Warrior about staying on Fremont Street. I've stayed at the Golden Nugget and was very pleased. On the strip, I've stayed at Paris, Bally's, the Imperial Palace (which I hated), and The Mirage. They're all basically the same IMO, since I'm not a high roller, lol.

I've heard Luxor is nice.
Timing is everything in Vegas...there are so many conventions held there througout the year, it can jack up prices.

The hotels downtown are nice and clean, but the casino's are the worst when it comes to smoke, IMO. I like the Luxor. I love love Vegas and always insist on staying on the strip cuz I like to park my car and not have to drive it the rest of the time I am there. Just walk up and down the strip with a beer in my hand and have a great time! It is quite the hike if you stay downtown and want to come see the bigger hotels. Parking is getting harder to find and you pretty much have to valet it anywhere. I believe some of the hotels wont even let you park there unless a guest. If you are planning on staying during the week, the price is MUCH cheaper than weekends. Watch out for holiday weekends too, like Easter. They get jacked up high.

I stayed at the Venetian last time I went and it was very nice, but I have no idea what the price was.
Circus Circus has good prices and good place for the family.
Mirage has a very nice landscaping, tropical rain forest, dolphin habitat and an aquarium. Around a $100 on up a night. Depending on when you stay.
We are planning on a family trip to Morongo Casino/Resort here in California next month. It's on Indian Land and ages 18 on up can play the tables and slots.

There's an agent in MSP called Hobbitt Travel. They're always advertising Vegas for "From $99 r/t".
