The Wire
HBO's THE WIRE is by far the most realistic Po-leese show on television.
I have never been a big fan of all those Criminal Minds/CSI/Law and Order shows because the plot is so predictable and at time unrealistic.
However, I highly recommend THE WIRE....... Get the 1st, 2cnd, and 3rd, seasons on DVD and enjoy..
By the Way are there any other WIRE fans out there??? Looking forward to the 4th Season This Summer on HBO

That show rocks. You wanna know why it is so realistic? It is "based on their own experiences. Central to this aim is the creation of truthful characters. Simon has admitted that most of them are composites of real-life Baltimore figures." They have a retired guy helping em out as well, and the guy who writes the show used to be a crime reporter.

Yep and some of the actors in The Wire are prior arrestees in real life.. Like the Minister on the show.. that acts as a cousel. The creators felt it best to use real ex-con coner boys to play the rolls and it works.

ex baltimore police commisioner ed norris is a consultant for the show...he also plays one of the homicide detectives. he was the best commisioner balto's seen in years, until he got in a political pissing match and ended up serving some federal prison time for falsifying (if you can call it that) loan information. he has a local radio show on weekdays from 1100-1500, locked and loaded on hfs 105.7. its mostly police related, and i love it because its all local for me. he and his show still get all kinds of support from the officers that worked there when he was commisioner.
plus its pretty cool going to central booking to pick up detainers/warrants and seeing them filming out there too.in the warriors code there's no surrender, though his body says stop, his spirit cries...NEVER. deep in our souls, a quiet ember, knows its you against you, its the paradox that drives us all. its a battle of wills, in the heat of attack, its the passion that kills, and victory is yours alone.

Yeah
I love the show personally too, having grown up in Prince Georges County Maryland for 22 years. My dad was a Maryland State Fire Marhsall and his brother was a PG Sgt. for the police department.
I love the detail HBO and producers add to the show. When I watch the show I pay close attention to the details in street names and so-fourth and the actual locations of those streets. I also notice sometimes in the background you hear a radio playing the Orioles games or a local radio station. The detail is just so superior over any other police show on television.
My biggest fear is that it doesn't get the respect from general america television viewers and the show eventually gets discontinuted because it only has a cult following.
ALL US POLICE SHOULD WATCH THAT SHOW AND LOBBY HBO TO MAKE MORE....
