Woman tasered after kicking police car window
CAPE CORAL: A Cape Coral woman was tasered and arrested after disobeying the orders of a Cape Coral police officer. The woman was with her child and another man on a vacant lot when the arrest took place.
On Thursday, Cape Coral Police Officers were called out to 209 SW Terrace in Cape Coral because there had been reports of a child walking around by himself for hours.
When the officer arrived to the scene, he found 35-year-old Yesenia Carrero and Roberto Flores sitting by a canal on the empty lot and he saw that Carrero's child was running unsupervised and dangerously close to the sea wall's edge.
Officer Joseph Zalenski said Carrero seemed drunk because her stance was unsteady and her eyes were bloodshot. He went on to explain that her young son was filthy. The three of them were all sitting bags full of trash.
In his report, Zalenski said he was forced to arrest Carrero for culpable negligence because she was very drunk and was not paying attention to her three-year-old son running around near the canal.
When Carrero was put into the police vehicle, she was screaming and even kicking at the back door. Her legs were restrained, but she managed to free herself from the restraints and continued the kicking and screaming.
Zalenski explained at that point, he opened the back door and tasered the woman just above the ankle for a full five seconds. After that, she did not cause any more trouble.
While Zalenski was talking to Flores, he said that he was with Carrero to have sex with her. But he did not get to do so because her son was there with them the whole time.
Another officer was searching the woods when he found a pair of soiled underwear that may have belonged to Carrero's child because he was not wearing any underwear when the officers arrived.
Carrero was taken back to the police station and was later taken to the Lee County Jail. Her son was left with a roommate. Carrero was also charged with resisting an officer without violence for trying to kick out the window of the police car.
Better than getting smacked with an ASP.
