Father sentenced to life in daughter's rape

Just days after her 16th birthday, an Atlanta teen's father led her to a cemetery, sat on a tombstone and told her to lie on the ground.

"You know you're old enough to date boys now," he told her. "I'm about to break you in."

The teen cried and begged her father not to, but he pulled out a condom and raped her. He then took her to a nearby convenience store, bought some chips and soda and walked her to a relative's house as if nothing had happened.

The teen was scared to tell her relatives, but within a couple of days, broke her silence. Her 33-year-old father, on trial this week for the March, 10, 2006 incident, decided to testify, telling Fulton County jurors he was being framed.

But the victim's mother — who had dated the defendant since middle school — and an Atlanta police detective went to the cemetery after the daughter told what had happened and found a used condom and a tissue with the man's DNA.

On Friday, jurors sided with the tearful daughter and convicted the man on incest and rape charges.

His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Fulton prosecutor Kimberly Esmond Adams said after visiting the family, the father took his daughter back to the cemetery on Forest Park Road in southeast Atlanta and sodomized her. He then turned around, facing a church across the street and mumbled: "Lord forgive me," Adams said.

The jury did not convict on the second charge.

During the sentence hearing Friday, the daughter sobbed as she spoke to her father for the first time in a year: "I got so depressed that I wanted to kill myself. How could someone I trust to protect me and I knew all my life do something as evil and dirty as this?"

Then it was the Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter's turn to speak. "You did this to your daughter twice — once in the graveyard and then again in the courtroom. I have no sympathy for you."

Baxter hammered the defendant, who has prior convictions for drug and weapons charges, with a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 20 years.

Because of assholes like this, I could only work a handfull of sex crimes. I had one father that made his 7 and 11 years old daughters perfrom oral sex on him everyday for about two months. When I interviewed him, he was proud of it, saying shit along the same lines as this asshole; "I only wanted them to learn from me, instead of learning from some random guy on the street."

We found out about it because the 11 year old was trying to teach her girlfriends how perform oral sex, and a teacher overheard. The best part was when the wife found out, when we went to pick him up at his house. She best the shit out of him, unfortunately myself and my partner were temporarily "distracted" while she beat him for a few minutes.
