I just got this spam email, and thought it was amusing... I suppose I could take their web courses that would tell me what Islamic Banking is, but... Nearest I can tell, it means I can put my money in and recieve zero interest - Sweet, almost like the bank I use now

To trace, Track and uproot Riba [interest] from divine economic system. Reconstruct Islamic Economy and Banking on foundation laid in Islam. The operative model can be traced in history. To expand the model along time line so as to reach all members of Muslim society.

Riba is Arabic for "interest." Islam prohibits "usury" (defined as any loan that charges interest). Islamic banking avoids loans that involve interest, or trading in financial risk (which are like gambling), or investing in producers of pork, alcohol, pornography, or other things prohibited by Islam.
