Need your suggestions
Ok, here is the deal.
Sunday is my one year anniversary to the most beautiful woman. As most of you know Im currently in a hell-hole of a country (Haiti). I dont have access to nice things and cant just go to a store and buy stuff. We are leaving on Monday to the US for a vacation and are going to have a nice romantic dinner in Miami somewhere then. (anybody know a good restaurant there?) But I still want to do something to mark this occassion. Does anyone have some suggestions?? Something I may be able to do here for her???

I don't know if this will work for you, but I have always found it is the simple things that become truly great memories. A walk on the beach, a bottle of wine shared with some memories. Something that shows her that for that time, she is all that matters and is your entire focus for being. Not that you don't feel that way anyway, but they like to be shown sometimes. Heck, you know this stuff, bro. You been married how long?

I guess Con can be a romantic.. (he wasn't that way with me, sigh)
Anyway, small well thought out moments can be meaningful. Perhaps a poem, or tell her about your memories of your first kiss. Of course some "special attention" won't hurt either.

Thanks I had thought of something like that, but just didnt know. I tell her everyday that I love her and how much she means to me. Just wanted to do something else to show her. Since I met her my life has been so much better and happier.

Conalabu and Growler have excellent suggestions. Maybe a romantic picnic with just the two of you, and you could write her a poem or a letter telling her what you just said to us - that since you met her your life has been so much better and happier and tell her why. Or you could get a small journal and on each page write a different memory that you've shared, or a memory or thought about her that you've had that she may not even be aware of. Then read it to or with her by candlelight.
BigDawgg, it's not the grandeur of the gesture - it's the motivation behind it that's important, and your heart is obviously in the right place so I'm sure that whatever you do will be just right and very much appreciated.
As for restaurants, I just asked a colleague and was told that Anacapri Italian restaurant in Coral Gables is very good, the prices aren't bad, and it's very romantic.

If you have access to a bunch of your photos....
making a collage of the history of your year is always a wonderful loving thing to do and fairly cheap.
Paul got me a locket with his photo in it and I adore it.. that is another idea, be it a bit old fashioned but that is what we are about...
restaurants... in south beach.. I dont go... to pricy for bullshit.
coral gables is a nice place to go and lovely to walk around as well.
Ask the hotel you are staying in... there are some lovely places on the waterway by Aventura and there is a center park that is lovely and safe to walk around at night too...
anyway.... just avoid south beach.. it is not romantic and it is really obnoxious...

500 fights, that's the number I figured when I was a kid. 500 street fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate tough guy. You need them for experience. To develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then, after, you realize that's what you are.
