So this wasn't supposed to happen this fast.
My brother joined the Army last year and has been in Missouri going through MP training. He graduates next week. He got his orders a few months ago and thankfully they were to Fort Carson, Colorado. So we've all been excited and planning for that, for him and his family. Last night I got a call from him and they've changed everything up, he's going to report to Colorado get the family settled and he's off to Iraqi for whatever length of time. We all knew the sandbox was going to be an eventual factor, but we thought we were past that for a bit.
Blah, this sucks. My mom isn't dealing with it all that well.
I'm proud of him.
Just thought I'd share.

That sucks. So does the Pentagon extending the tour lengths - Can't be good for morale.
This is not a state of emergency so they shouldn't be jacking people around like that, unless they want the volunteers to bail as soon as their first enlistment is up. I don't think the brass is looking at the long-term picture, and the mess they're in shows a severe lack of contingency planning.
Wishing the best for him and his family, Autumn, under the circumstances.

Autumn, thanks for the sacrifice that you, your family and your brother are making to help the cause of freedom. You will all be in my prayers.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Thanks guys!! It's so nice having you all as an extended family. We're not sure yet when he gets deployed, but probably sometime this summer.

thoughts and prayers autumn, to you, your brother and your mom. Send along deep thanks to your brother for me as well....there are many of us here at home who still respect the sacrifices soldiers make, and honor them for that.
500 fights, that's the number I figured when I was a kid. 500 street fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate tough guy. You need them for experience. To develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then, after, you realize that's what you are.

Best wishes and prayers sent, Autumn.
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.
In Nomine Patris, Et Filli, Et Spiritus Sancti.

Once again thanks guys. It really sucks, my brother and I are a huge gap in age, he's 34 and I'm almost 20. So we have just recently gotten super close after all these years and now.........he's going a bazillion miles away. Lol. My luck. Haha.

Best of wishes to you, your brother, and your family.
We really do appreciate what he and every other soldier are doing.
We will keep you, and family in our prayers.
Make sure we @ LEF get his address when he finds out where he will be stationed in Iraq.

Wish him well from me too. My son, on the other hand, is pissed off that he isn't being deployed to Afghanistan! He has Compartment Syndrome in both lower legs which needs surgery to correct. He will need 4 months to return to combat fitness, after the operation. He says he will then ask to be deployed, as that's what he's in the Army for.
