Southern California, anyone?

For those of you in southern CA, I'm looking for a hotel/motel that's reasonably priced and within maybe 20 miles of Laguna Beach. I'm flying into Orange County. This will be in August, just for two nights, I'll have a car, and I'll be alone so I want a place that you'd be comfortable recommending to your sister.

I've only been to that area a couple of times, both work related which limited my exploration and I don't remember many details about the area. I'm finding a lot of places online, but I have no way of knowing if they're decent or not. I don't need a lot of amenities, just a safe and clean place to sleep. Any help would be appreciated.

Also if anyone has any connections with the Pageant of the Masters, please let me know.

I have stayed at Inn at Laguna Beach. That hotel is right on the water and very clean and safe. A lot of places in that area is kinda pricey. You can search in the area of Irvine..that is fairly close to Laguna Beach. Maybe do a search for hotels in Laguna Beach or hotels.com. Really no bad places there and just your typical small beach town with locals.

I just checked out some info online about the Pageant of the Masters and it looks like a lot of fun. The tickets are being sold pretty fast too.
If I don't have to work and there are any tickets left by then, I might have to go on a little trip and check it out.

This isn't a work trip, it's strictly for fun. I am heading to Phoenix for work next week, though.

Sounds good. The way my job works I won't find out if I have the time off till maybe a week beforehand. If I can, I will go.

I've never made it to the Pageant of the Masters, but everyone I know that has says it's amazing!

I was trying to check on hotels for ya, but I'd hate to recommend someplace I've never stayed. If you belong to AAA, you can get the best discounts on room rates, and I've always been happy with their choices.

Thanks, I've been looking through the AAA site and I've found a couple that might be good. It's so much cheaper to stay in Irvine, I might do that and stay at a chain.

If you do that Bcups - look into San Juan Capistrano! It's off the 5, easy driving distance to Laguna and the Mission is there.

Irvine is an Industrial Business Complex that turned into a city.
