Bragging rights.
Most Dads are too busy working and providing for their families and don't have the time to enjoy their children as much as they do their grand children.
This is my grand daughter Devon a concert violinist, of whom I'm very proud.
She plays first violin and is concert master with her orchestra. I envy this kid for all the traveling she has done to the places I've long dreamed of visiting. To mention a few, Australia, South Africa, most European countries, UK, Ireland, Iceland, Canada, etc.
She has played at Carnegie Hall in NYC more than a dozen times.
She's a very shy and modest girl and would have a fit if she knew I was saying these things and putting her photo in the forum.
Even thou being shy, when playing before a packed audience she plays as well as if there wasn't a soul in the room.

You should be proud of her. It's nice to read about a kid who's doing something so positive with her life for a change.

You have every right to be proud of her.

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all the compliments. Devon's coming home this weekend and will be playing several pieces at a metro Atlanta church; and I can hardly wait.
If I get up the nerve, I may tell her I posted her photo in the forum, but on second thoughts I'd better not, unless I want a violin broken over my head. No, there's not a mean bone in Devon's body and if she thought she had hurt someone's feelings she wouldn't sleep a wink, until she had apologized to that person and begged their forgiveness.
