Proud Mom...
My son Chad wrote a poem entitled "Chocolate Labs" earlier in the school year. Unbeknownst to me, his teacher submitted it in a poetry contest. Yesterday I received a letter indicating that his poem has been selected to be published in the spring 2007 anthology A Celebration of Young Poets! Chad is 12 years old and will be starting middle school next year. I am so proud of him and wanted to share it with everyone!

that is really neat news

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

That is very wonderful news! Being somewhat of a poet myself that's really good to hear
