Make sure you have the url for the picture correct--that it is the url for an actual picture and not just for the webpage on which the picture is displayed. On the other hand, sometimes the forum just won't display a picture, for no apparent reason.

Sometimes if the picture doesn't end with an image format name, like .jpg or .bmp the image tags won't work correctly. Don't know if that's the problem though.

When I've had that problem, I just saved the picture, put it on Tinypic, and posted that link.
