    Best WWII Movie

I am a huge WWII buff. I am most interested in the ETO(if you know what that means, we are on the same page). I have read countless books and seen tons of movies on the subject.
So what is the best WWII movie in your opinion?
    Here is my list:
    1. Band of Brothers(I know it is not a movie, but it is great)
    2. Saving Private Ryan
    3. Longest Day
    4. Midway(Not ETO, but great never the less)
The opinions given in my posts DO NOT reflect the opinions, views, policies, and/or procedures of my employing agency. They are my personal opinions only, thereby releasing my agency of any liability, or involvement in anything posted under the username "Beans" on LEF.

    2. Patton
    3. Midway
    4. The Longest Day
    5. Run Silent, Run Deep
    6. Mr. Roberts
    7. The Dirty Dozen
    8. A Bridge Too Far

Rounds out my top ten for WWII.

    Honorable mentions for:

The Bridge over the River Kwai, The Guns of Navaronne, and Kelly's Heroes.

"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."
    - Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America

County are you sure that you didn't confuse that list with your top 10 porn flicks.

    1. Saving Ryan's private
    2. Run silent, Run deep
    3. The dirty dozen
    4. The big red one
    5. kelly's hero's.

Just f*ckin with ya big guy. Can't say that I am a big WWII fan, but I did see Saving Private Ryan and thought it was a pretty good movie. And I didn't get to see it very often but the Band of Brothers series was exellent.

Wise men stand behind me, brave men stand beside me, but only fools stand against me.

The force that propels you to prevail when you are put to a test of survival will be a mindset that refuses to accept nothing but winning.

My Dad was at Normandy. He's 86 now, and still my hero.

His photo albums tell a whole story.

I like the above mentioned and A&E made a movie a year or so ago called "IKE" with Tom Selleck as Eisenhower about being the supreme commander and the decisions he made leading up to the D-day invasion

Nah, top 10 porn flicks, never... I only remember a few that I have ever watched...

    1. Debbie does Dallas
    2. Debbie does Everything Else
    3. Smokey703 gets done by The New Orleans Saints Offensive Line

A footnote: I really wouldn't have been interested enough to watch the last one, but the star threatened to beat me with an autographed jockstrap if I didn't.

I forgot about Schindlers list. Saving Sophie Scholl is another great one. It is German with subtitles, but I loved it.
    Thanks for the porn titles.

Nice, you are correct sir. My grandfather is 91 and was part of a unit that liberated the concentration cap Dachau. The stories he has are unreal. I really need to document his stories on video before they are gone forever.
He has some great stuff that he took. Nazi armbands and German Army manuals and propaganda books.

Slightly OT here, but ancestry.com recently uploaded a LOT of military records, and they're free to search till June 6 or so. We found my grandfather's draft registration card from WWI (1917) - and he was listed as married. Thing is, he didn't meet my grandmother till 10 years after that, and he never said anything about having been married before. So now I'm trying to find a marriage certificate.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program.
