Thoughts
I have been having thoughts latley.I know dangerous.
What I have noticed lately,is the action in the poker room.I rarely go in there even though Dapples loves it,(and has NO idea I am posting this),to me,poker is a matter of --odds---probabilities(sp)----risks----percentages---..I have noticed that some players are in there and win by being "Bullies",forcing the other players to fold, because you have more $$$$.I just want to say,and I am sure I will be burned to hell and back for this,If you cant understand the game ---o.k.----But if you feel you can only win by being a "bully",I fear for what kind of cop you are???If you feel that ,is the only way you can win,how do you handle a "resistance" call.
Sorry, just had to have my say.
All I can think is "if you play------play right..." Maybe cause I get the chance to go to casinos' I know how it is really done???

Ah-Ha! Thank you for making me feel better in loosing all my $! Now I know I'm only being bullied into giving it up. And not just loosing on my own.
Ok you bullies....next time i'm in there playing with you, why don't you just get straight to the point. Pick me up by my ankles, turn me upside down and start shaking to make my money fall out of my pockets. Don't you think it would be easier to just pick it all up at once????

Um, no matter how much money you have in the bank, you can only bring 1000 to the table. Everyone starts equal.

And don't forget that if we lose it all we can reset back to 1000! So that's why I still like it!
And....I really don't mind people taking my money because I think it's funny when I think I have the best hand with 4 Aces and someone beats me with a Straight Flush.
But that's poker for ya.
Also, I happen to like the bullying.
It's like abuse. And abuse turns me......Wait, was I thinking out loud again? OOPS!
Oh you were talking about poker games....not "poke her" games! Damn my mind wonders sometimes! I really gotta get that fixed.

Come on Mav,,, lighten up... Dapps been kickin your butt at poker?
I look at it this way. It is electonically done by computers, we don't really know each other, and like the others say,,, you can re-up to 1000 as often as you want...
Bullying,,, I don't see it, but, "if you can't stand the heat,,, stay out of the kitchen"

That's the whole point of poker. Like I said...everyone starts at 1000. If someone has 3000 "dollars" and someone else, like Dapples, only ahs "400", there's a reason. There was no bullying...everyone started out with equal footing, but obviously someone was better at the game to get to 3000. Once that happens, yeah, it is going to get harder to hang with the betting, but that's the point.

not that i play too much on this forum, but...
how does playing aggressive poker by using your earned monetary advantage to pursuade others to fold implicate that one is a bad police officer?

Poker is a game of risks and percentages, but it is also a game of reading the other player. Unlike in the movies we can't watch for someone who starts tapping the table when they're bluffing, but you can still read them to an extent. Its another layer of percentages - will the cards fall and is _____ trying to buy the pot or not? What have they done in the past?
Playing an offensive game like that is certainly fair. Beats up on me because, at least in my case, my "wait and see" personality does come through in how I play - and I have to force myself to play differently at times in an (recently vain) attempt to avoid being too predictable.
So while I can see where there may be a correlation between how someone plays poker and how they are in other avenues of life, I wouldn't read too much into it. Those who 'bully' at poker are the ones best at putting on their poker face.

yeah, its my understanding that when handling a resistance situation, you use more force then you are being met with in order to come out on top. kinda like betting more money to get the other guy to fold.
you dont take a knife to a gun fight...train to win
