on his wearing his sidearm. "Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you
expecting trouble?" "No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have
brought my rifle."

I have very fond memories of the Seabees, from my days as a Navy brat.
For those who have been to San Diego, you know we have a lovely bridge that spans the bay. The Coronado Bridge has rules about not having things hung off it, but whenever a ship came back from WestPac, the Navy wives turned to the Seabees for help. They would "storm" the bridge in the middle of the night, and hang canvas banners to welcome the ships home.
I think the city bitched to the Admiral, because they eventually put a stop to it, but it sure added a special feeling to those homecomings.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

NMCB 23 from 89-93. Was activated for Desert Storm. Liked it so much I ended up going active duty for 4 1/2 years. Too bad I lost my BU rate when I did though

Isn't the Seabee motto... We build, We fight, but we can't read nor write! jk guys
I'm a former Gunny at the Inspector-Instructor Staff, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines at Bldg 6, NCBC Port Hueneme from 1987 to 1991. (If ya tell me I'm old, I'm gonna shoot ya and pepper spray the hole!)
My cousin was mechanic with NMCB 40 at the time... friendly rivalry.
Too bad 4 Seabees are currently in Ventura County Jail for the Dec 06 murder of a former Seabee, John Marmo.
gives the military a black eye.
Thanks for building my camp in Saudi. We were'nt able to use it for long before the ground war started.

The man who will go where his colors go, without asking who will fight a phantom foe in the jungle and mountain range, without counting, and who will suffer and die in the midst of incredible hardship, without complaint, is still what he has always been, from Imperial Rome to sceptered Britain to democratic America. He is the stuff of which legions are made. ...His pride is in his colors and his regiment, his training hard and thorough and coldly realistic, to fit him for what he must face...and his obedience is to his orders. pc830Cop,
We were at Pt. Hueneme at the same time. Only Gunny I remember off the top of my head was Gunny O. Bulldog of a black guy from North Carolina, Hickory if I remember correctly."Let us speak courteously, deal fairly, and keep ourselves armed and ready."

I was a Staff Sergeant in logistics. Made Gunny in 91, before I left to return to the FMF. There were a few MSgts and Gunnys in the Seabee battalions and Bldg 1165 armory. We took care of their records... and the reservists.
If it helps, I was the short filipino with the gold jump wings!
