Rule #1. Go home at the end of your shift no matter what.
I'd rather be tryed by 12 than carried by 6.
Shoot first ask questions later. The bad guy had a gun, he wasn't looking to invite people over for milk and cookies. He obviously was looking to hurt someone or he wouldn't have had the gun. I say job well done to the officer.
