9 is the number of ego; it's the supreme number as it always comes back to itself. No other number possesess the Power of 9.

The beast in revelations is a prelude to the modern devil, who came later. The number 666 has it's importance too, but it's only a prelude to Satan's real number, 9.

6+6+6=18...................... ..Add the 1 and 8 you get 9.

6x6x6=612..................... ..Add the 6 to 1 to 2 and get 9.

The confusion comes from the movie The Omen. The boy has the mark of 666. He is the son of the Devil and not the Devil himself he is only a prelude of what is to come.

That's precisely why I didn't speak in absolutes, I don't know if that is true or not. I was merely giving a possible explanation because throughout Christianity, serpents are generally equated to evil and to Satan either directly or symbolically.
