Pet Loss
I know several of you have lost your best mate, your friend, your companion, sometimes called a pet.
We lost our dog, Chloe, a few years, after having her for close to 18 years. But since that time, I've had several friends who also had to face this terrible loss.

Someone dear to me lost her best friend almost 12 months ago after having him for the best part of 2 decades. As we approach the end of June, I’m sure she will feel the sorrow of that week. She has got a new dog now but she still mentions that she misses him. So as a tribute to those lost friends of ours, I thought I'd post some useful links that help deal with this issue.

Dayum! 18 years is quite a long time for a dog. Usually mine have only made it to 13. However, I have had a cat that made it to 20. What's your secret?
Oh, believe me, cats show their affection, too. Sometimes they won't leave me or my wife alone. I have 8, all indoor, all fixed. 1 dog, indoor, fixed. I will have to admit, you can take a dog on a walk, but not a cat, not usually.

I had a cat named Geezer that i could take on walks with a harness. He would jump up and ride on my shoulder whenever he saw me. I bottle-fed him and we were inseperable. The road took his life after about a year. His brother, Gizmo, walked up and down the road looking for him for days, and died on the road a few days later. It took me so long to get over it.

That is so sad.
That is one reason why all our cats are indoor. I just can't chance it. I have lost way too many to the road over the years. It is hell to go through that.

We lost our cat (21 years old) two weeks ago. Very upsetting, particularly for my fiance who had her for the entire 21 years!!!
