I am back from LA, California.
Wow, that is all I can say about Southern California. I mean that in a good and bad way. The traffic around LA is the worst I have ever seen. People drive like nuts and I was nervous.
LA itself is fairly dirty and run down and was not impressed. I did drive down Wilshire in Beverly Hills and it was pretty cool up there.
We spent our time in Ventura and Oxnard, which were nicer. Ventura is a hippy city, but liked it a lot. We also went up to Santa Barbara which was beautiful.
Last thing we did was take a boat to the Channel Islands off the coast which was great.
California is a cool place to visit, but I would have trouble living there. No offense CA members!

Glad you had fun.

I always wonder why LA is so car-dependent even though the weather is so nice and perfect for walking.

You know... I have never been to either of those places.... sheish! I need to travel more... I do have to say its the areas outside of LA that are impressive... I live in the cutest little "Mayberry" type town but right next to me on either side are shady areas... its the gems you find hiding out here...
Glad you are safely back , come back and visit again!!!

This weird little town called Solvang. It is 40 miles north of Santa Barbara. It is set up like a Danish community. I found it strange.

I LOVE CALI. Went to Solvang for a 7th grade field trip. Tried to stay away from LA, stayed mostly by the beach. Loved the Santa Monica Pier
500 fights, that's the number I figured when I was a kid. 500 street fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate tough guy. You need them for experience. To develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then, after, you realize that's what you are.

Great pics! Look like a great time! I'm jealous.
There’s a promise I need you to make
While I’m gone you take care of the love
And I’ll deal with the hate.
Don’t worry about me; I’ll be all right
Just care for your children and sleep tight
I’ll keep you safe on my watch tonight

Welcome home, Beans. Cool pix.
Being Cali, I wondered if Solvang's appearance might have a movie set tie-in, but that doesn't seem to be the case (other than Sideways recently being filmed there)
Solvang means "Sunny Field" in Danish. It was founded in 1911 on 9,000 acres (36 km²
of formerly Spanish land by a group of Danish educators. The settlers of this city left for the west to escape midwestern winters. The city is home to some bakeries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark in California. But the architecture of many of the buildings follows traditional German styles. There is a copy of the famous Little Mermaid statue from Copenhagen, as well as one featuring the bust of famed Danish fable writer Hans Christian Andersen.
