It's over!
Hey everybody! I'm just droppping by to give ya'll the update about my externship program. It's finally over. My last day was Wednesday. To refresh everyone's memory, I worked in the cardiac surgery intermediate unit for my summer externship. I am a senior nursing student at the 2nd largest nursing school on the east coast.
I received an "A" for the program. I got to see a whole lot working on my floor. Some of the things include: patients right out of heart surgery, chest tube removals, patient with all kinds of feeding tubes, nasogastric tubes, thoracotomy patients, patients with valve replacements, PCAs, a drain removed from the pericardial sac of the heart, PICC line insertions, pacing wires, patients on ventilators, chronics, and so much more.... Those are just a few off the top of my head. I got a lot of valuable experience, and I learned a lot. I have been offered a position of the floor, and I plan on working there are a Caretech until I graduate.
I can't even begin to describe how fortunate I was to be a part of this program. I met a lot of great families, and I couldn't have asked for better patients. I loved them all

Congrats Jrae! I just finished my internship last Friday and got an A as well, hope it feels as good to be done with it for you as it does for me!
