I went to a licensed hypnotist / psychologist for weight control for about a year back in the 1990's.
During the sessions I always was awake and had confidence that I could just leave anytime I wanted to, and not follow his suggestions or requests. He said that was normal.
I was totally disappointed in the results. Big waste of money for me.

My first marriage was the product of hypnosis. I need not say anymore.

I tried to have it done to me once about 11 yrs ago. I couldn't fall into the trance. I'd like to try it again though!

i think that the person being hypnotised must believe that they want to be put under for that crap to work. i think the people being made to cluck like chickens is funny as hell but utter crap.

I was once, it did not work for the intended behavior correction, but it was just about the most relaxed I've ever been and still been awake. I enjoyed it.

I've gone into road hypnosis before, and those swirling patterns zone me out in no time flat, but never a 'directed' hypnosis.

In college I attended a hypnosis workshop run by a fellow student. It didn't work on me, though it seemed to have worked on some classmates (unless they were his accomplices and faking it).
