Public Defender system a little to generous?

A fifty year old WA state school teacher has been charged with rape of a child, age 15. The defendant requested a public defender because "I cannot afford to hire my own attorney." The teacher makes $3,000 per month. Not a salary to get rich on but not poverty either. The judge granted the defendant a public attorney citing "the defendant may have trouble getting a job with these charges." No shit!

Dayum, Brad, you need to come work in Swamp Mafia country. We may be slow, but we pay better than that.

Plus we just got a boost in our state supplemental pay retroacactive back to July 1.

(And the South La. food is a bonus, too.)
