Meteor Shower tonight/tomorrow
For those of you interested and in an area that will have clear skies, the Perseid meteor shower is supposed to peak at around 1 am tomorrow.

I hope they don't crash into us or seed us with alien invaders! I'll have my tinfoil hat on....

scary... there's tens of thousands of asteroids in "the belt" and we haven't tracked all of them yet! a rock, just a mile wide could end life on earth... again! it's a numbers game, really.

I know! The most spectacular I've seen so far was the Leonid shower in 2001 (I think) at around 3 am, it literally looked like multicolored fireworks in the sky.

I'd been planning on going out to my parent's place in the country to watch, but cloud cover made it kind of pointless.

It's supposed to storm tonight so I probably won't be able to see anything. I'm going to set my alarm to wake up at 1 anyway just in case.

I might have a chance of seeing this tonight. It's been pretty clear. Maybe I'll wake up my son and take him outside. I think he'd dig that!

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

I'm sure that he would. Although it's pretty dark in my development, I usually go to a nearby park for the meteor showers and there are always several families with children even though it's the middle of the night. It's got to be pretty fun for the kids just to be awakened and taken out at that time of night, too.

I get off work at 11:30, and will stay up late to check it out. I'm in a fairly dark area, so hope to see some natural fireworks.

Ok, hoping for no cloud cover so we can spot some tonight.

Maybe I should just stay where I currently am right now. I'm in a lawn chair on the beach looking out at Lake Huron, just watched the sun go down and now looking at the stars.

Sadly, even though I have to get up at 5:30am, I'll be up to see this.

My daughter and I have just come back in after watching the amazing event for 2 hrs! Couldn't drag ourselves away. I'm going to regret it when I have to get up in a few hours!

We just got in as well, saw a couple of BRILLIANT displays, including one that streaked across half the sky and left a bright twin tail behind.

The shower was pretty good. I got one every 2-3 minutes. Some left a tail that sparkled for 1-3 seconds.

Soooo very cool! Sadly, I now need to take a few hours nap so I can get up for work. At least I can look forward to seeing a few more when I drive to work at oh-dark-thirty!!
