My invasion has started
Arrived Thursday, driving on the right and the driver on the left freaked me out!! Looked like remote cars!??!
The 1st lot of people we came across were so rude . . but things have improved. I guess you wouldn't know but Los Angeles has a certain smell about it. A sweet smell, not knocking it, just something we all noticed. Went to Venice Beach and saw more cops in a hour than I'd normally see all day at our beaches. Just one or 30 tattoo shops!!
I've found lots of people can't understand what I'm saying . . .its like talking to the wife!!!
Speaking of the wife, she wants to go the Emmy's this weekend!!
I sometimes forget I'm in the US but as soon as someone talks is helps remind me.

*LOL* ~ that's what I told her, might do a night tour instead.
Don't worry about the rude peeps, one was a taxi driver, several were United hosties on the flight over and some upstart at a pizza shop. Oh, and not the forget the bus driver who shut the door on my face because I asked about the time of the next bus!! *LOL* I must look criminal!! *LOL* I've found most of the people very friendly, as I expected from stories friends have told me. My wife wanted to bring the bloke from the Italian restaurant home with us, a really nice guy just perfect for our 19 yr old daughter!! *LOL*

welcome

have fun!!!!!!http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

It reminds me of Sydney actually.
Pgrl ~ we're coming up the San Francisco Friday/Sat/Sun and flying home from SFO. We want to drive south from there along the coast.
Thats what I told the Mrs, in bigger cities have their fair share of grumps and rude people but its the same % any where you go.
Oh, the taxi driver was an American and like you, taxi driver's in Australia are 99% "just migrated". We have a lot of Somalians & Indians (from India not yours) at the moment driving taxis.
Hiring a car today, testing my theory of if I drive fast enough on the left side all will be good.
Oh, it was nice to get a meal that didn't have fries!!! You guys live on them it seems!!!
Keep you posted on the driving thing.

What sort of Aussie goes away when the World Cup is on? Your boys are looking good to. Nice game against Wales. England, however are a shower of shit and will be very lucky to get to the Quarters.
To be born an Englishman, is to be a winner in the Lottery of Life.

How funny! When I was in Adelaide this past March for the World Games, I was amazed at how friendly and helpful the bus drivers were!!! Every single driver my friends & I encountered was most helpful, even getting out maps to show us where we needed to catch other lines.
I avoid Los Angeles as much as possible, but I suppose it's good for visitors to see the Hollywood scene, LOL. San Diego is my preference (heading there this afternoon!). Enjoy your drive up the coast of Cali. It is one of my absolute favorite road trips!!!The true measure of your character is what you choose to do when you think no one is looking.

I know, the son & I race to the lap top for the scores. Our Rugby League team, Melbourne Storm, are one win off playing in the Grand final, they have a home final next weekend and we're here!!
I got lost in LA tonight, there's NO signs to tell you where anything is. . . . .and I can't believe the number of people on cell phones when they drive. It's illegal here . . .for many good reasons, but I guess our traffic laws are a bit tougher in some respect.
I got upgraded to a Ford SUV and don't mind driving in the wrong seat on the wrong side of the road. I've only gone to the right door a dozen times . . .
Off to San Diego this Sunday.
Oh . . met some very nice Santa Monica LEOs and swapped patches.
Your MacDonalds tastes just like ours!!! ~ like crap!!
