Vacation

My girlfriend and I want to go on a vacation next summer.

I'd rather not drive more than 10 hours, and I dont' want to go out of the country.

Ideas?

Citys or parks, or themed stuff....whatever. Anyone with ideas?

With a 10 hour radius you're looking (depending your location in-state) T-Bay or Winnipeg up north, Indiana to the east, Missouri to the south, and maybe something like Rushmore to the west.

I'd choose Mount Rushmore myself.

Mt Rushmore, if you have never been, and the Badlands, I think there is now a cool dinosaur museum there.

Yellowstone is pretty cool too!

Of course, there is always Canada.

Try Wisconsin Dells. It has some great water parks, great scenery, a casino nearby, and lot to do.

Here is a link to some information about the Badlands, if that is something you are interested in. I would highly suggest going to Mt. Rushmore (roughly 100 miles from badlands) and Wall, SD (30 miles from the badlands) if you do plan to go out to the Badlands. Wall has a bunch of little shops and some museums(Wall drug), it is known nationwide for the free ice water. During the depression they offered free ice water to travelers, and it kinda stuck. I was there about 5 years ago, it was a good time, definitely bring the camera. The have huge statues and a big dinosaur that moves and makes noise. Well have a good trip whereever you go!

Mt. Rushmore is out because she's been there several times apparently.

Wisc. Dells is out because we've both been there a million times.

Flying is not out of the question, I'll fly. But, if we drive, i'd just rather not drive more than 10 hours. Even that sounds long....ugh.

I've never been a "vacationer"....On my vacations I've always worked on shit I haven't had time to do. So, this is new to me...I have no idea where to go!!!!!

Basically just looking for a city or area that would have good sites to see. Possibly something that isn't really "touristy" (Like Las Vegas, NYC, Grand Canyon). But still a place that has stuff to see/do/go to....ya know what I mean?

And again, I will NOT go to North Carolina. Besides, I heard that entire state smells like pee.

We're planning this for sometime may/june/july.

My only idea was Washington D.C. in May for National Police Week.

What about Chicago? Northwest Airlines' main hub is Minneapolis, you can probably get pretty cheap airfare.

New Orleans is always nice, too.
