LEF came back up just in time. I tend to go to eBay when I can't get on here, and it was starting to get hard to resist some of the 'I Wants'!

As Monk says, "here's what happened;"

I've been busy all weekend moving out of my house, which I am in the final stages of selling. I was about to take a nap Sunday evening, and went to log off of LEF. That's when I noticed the site went down without notice or explanation.

So much for my nap.

I tried calling Host Rocket, who is the server company we recently switched to on the fly, after our last server crashed. Host Rocket literally had an automated message that said that due to the large number of support calls flooding the system, they were not taking calls. No shit.

So I went to there website, and put in a support ticket, with their support staff, asking why the server was down, and what happened. I was pretty rude, considering this has already happened four times since we recently switched to them. It took over an hour, but finally I got an e-mail back telling me that all sites with Host Rocket had their server down. They were aware of the problem, and working on it, though they had yet to tell me what the problem is. I was getting VERY frustrated at this point.

It took about 3 hours, but I was finally able to speak to a Host Rocket representative on the telephone. They told me LEF and all sites who use Host Rocket were down because of maintenance. They were having hardware issues, so they shut all sites down, without notice, for maintenance. They estimated the site would be down for a couple of hours, maybe. That obviously wasn't the case. Five hours later, the site returns.

I immediately began the process of changing servers yet again. I am very unhappy with Host Rocket and recommend to anyone using them, to find another server. So, we're swtiching servers again this week, more than likely Monday or Tuesday.

Keep your fingers crossed folks. We were doing so well, and then hit a major streak of bad luck, and misfortune, like I have never seen. We're fighting hard and not giving up. It appears our main page will finally be finished by October 5th. We do this site for you, but I cannot afford to support LEF on my meek $27,100 p/yr cop salary. That's why I ask you, the member we serve, to help support us by becoming a supporting member, and donating. 100% of the money you give goes back into the site. So please keep us in mind when you have $20 or so kicking around. Every bit helps. Server changes and other expenses are not cheap. Computer guys make a good living, that's all I'll say.

These so called big corporations never cease to amaze me. $70 a month for a server seems like a lot to me, but to them, it's pocket change, and you're nothing but a small time customer.

I fixed the chat room problem! Since the site went down I found a way to use the chat room by going to a link. This was my back up plan. I was going to make chat available while the site was down. Since the site got back up and running i intergrated it back with our site and the problems should be fixed!

We are working hard to fix these problems and we are sorry for anyone who went through withdraws!

As a few of you know, LEF went down yet again early this morning for a couple of hours. Another Host Rocket problem. These guys are the most incompetent group of computer geeks I have ever had the displeasure of working with.

Thankfully, our server change is in progress, at this time. Fuck Host Rocket.

We are thankful for having such a close knit group of members! These problems are ones that our out of our control. I will tell you this Myself and Term have spent Hours and Hours on trying to get the problem rectified! We will not give up and we will continue to provide you with the service that you deserve!

I think it's awesome that you two are completely honest with us about what's going on.

Another site that I used to frequent, but don't much anymore, is never very honest about things and it is suspected that he uses the money he raises for his personal belongings!

I have reason to believe that the site outages are related to Brad's spending 2/3 of the site's income on Beanie Babies rather than paying the bills. I am very displeased with these developments.

Beanie Babies are so 90's Virginian. And here I thought gay people had a good sense of style.

By the way, how's the beefing up the arms for the academy going?
