Explanation of What happened

On monday someone or something had altered the template table in the
main Vbulletin SQL database. The Template table contained three
records for the forum opening page. Html code was inserted into these
records causing the main forum page to display a hackers message.

The site may be unavailable to a few users as the DNS propagates the
new site location. This will only only be for a short time as the DNS
settings tend to propagate quickly from the DNS servers.

Now if you don't understand all of that. Basically Host rocket (our server) was hacked. They were able to get into the templates. They replaced our home page with code that would redirect you to another site. They were not able to access anything else on the site, only the Vbulletin SQL database which contains the templates.

We are aware of all of the bugs (i think). We were forced to leave host rocket and go with another server. We could keep the site down until the problems are fixed but I would rather it be up where you can still post. We will work diligently to fix all the problems.

Nope the only thing they had acces to is the Vbulletin SQL database. They only thing this give them access is to the coding of the templates. Which means they could change our layout. They could not access our forums or any other info!

Like I said in the other post, a big thanks to you guys for keeping us together. You all have worked so hard and deserve a lot of credit for all the hard work. Thanks for keeping us informed every step of the way.

I was actually seriously worried that I had inadvertently set into motion the chain of events that led to the server crashing, because the server started crashing right while the site staff were in dialogue with me about a minor technical PM forwarding problem I noticed (which has since been fixed). I was glad to learn that the crash wasn't my fault!

I don't think we will have this problem again but you never know! Companys like DIsney and Yahoo have had the same problems in the past 2 years! I am working on a chat room that we can use for when site goes down hope to never use it!

Thanks to Tony for working with the new server company today, while I was asleep, charging my battery for night shift tonight.

We were not the only site effected since it was (another) Host Rocket issue. I think we handled it extremely well.

Tony and I have worked our asses off for you guys. Work, family, sleep, food, it was all literally put as a secondary priority over the past few days to fix LEF.
