NCIC NLETS re-cert
Does EVERYONE (read all LEO's & Dispatchers) who has access to NCIC/NLETS have to take the re-cert test every 2 years?
When you take the test if you fail are you given the test back with the answers you got wrong?
I'm just having a hard time for some reason. They told me I didn't pass but didn't give me my score or what I got wrong.
Last week 2 of my co-workers failed. Just for giggles the one guy Xeroxed all his answers. When they told him he failed he pointed out his Copy, along with where he got the answers.
Our TAC Officer wouldn't relent even when shown the answer keys don't match what's in our manual.
I'm getting really frustrated.

In Washington, you recert every two years with ACCESS, our version of the NCIC interface.
The test is open book. Nobody fails.
Most cops are level 1, I was a prior dispatcher and continue to maintain level 2, which allows me greater rights, as in entering stolen items or running criminal histories.I'm your huckleberry...

We ar not required to recert, we are supposed to but the issue isn't pushed. I keep all my certifications up. I passed every time so I don't know if they give back the test. Like maclean i was a dispatcher prior to jumping into LE side
My dad, I miss him every day.

I dont have to do it but I do. I got certified years ago when I was a dispatcher and I have always kept it up. It is kind of a tough test.
We are about to get MDTs and I wonder if everyone will have to be certified to use the systems?*************************"It wouldn't take much for me to up and run...to another life somewhere in the sun."

I am a TAC. My officers/dispatchers are not given the test back with wrong answers when they fail. Our test is done on the computer and it will not give what questions are missed. It will tell the person who took the test what section they missed questions in.
It is also an open book test here so if yours is also an open book take your time and look it up!

In TX we are supposed to recert every 2 years. Anyone that has access to info has to be certified. Everyone from the court clerk all the way up. TX is in the process of switching over to a new system so everything is all messed up at the moment.

Thanks to everyone for the replies but especially to Rica.
That's the messed-up part - It's an open-book test. Granted the book is about 7 inches thick.
The one I took last night I looked up EVERY answer except one & that one I asked a Corporal who is know as one of the best 'scope operators in the Troop.
Ugh, well I'm re-testing tonight, wish me luck."The statements and opinions contained in this communication do not necessarily reflect the official position of the Commission regarding these issues."

Good luck!
Our open book test is two books, one on NCIC and one on ACCESS, which is the state entry point to NCIC.
We take the test on a CD rom and print out our answers for our TAC. I was the TAC for a while, but what a PITA.I'm your huckleberry...

We have to recert, and we do it online...the coordinator is a Comm Center Supervisor, and that is all she does, so she makes sure everyone with access gets recertified.
And it's open book for us too.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

i dont know what other dept are like..
but anything that has a 'test' with ours...
is open book after the training...
and you would have to be retarded, not present at all or just alone and angry to not pass it lolhttp://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

That's how ours works, too... If you manage not to get VCIN/NCIC certification -- you pretty much had to be trying. 'Cause if you don't get it on your own in the class, they'll sit down with you and work with you until you do!
It's gotta be open book. VCIN/NCIC ends up needing 3 books; there's no way in hell you can memorize all that material. You recertify every 2 years.

Same situation here as Reca's. We only find out if we passed, the percentage in each section, and the total percentage. Also an open book, so once you know where/how to find the answers you shouldn't fail at all.
On the older version of the system you would print the test off, take it, and submit the answers and find out. All of the old tests were kept with the scores marked on them so we could use the answers to the questions on other tests. The new system took that luxury from us."Like" us on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Offic...93147194083228

I got LEDS (Law Enforcement Data System) certified when I was an intern with the State Police. It didn't even require a test. I just had to perform each of the tasks the book required and print out the results to prove I'd done it. I never renewed my certification, so I'm not sure what that would have required.
