Who wants to adopt a poor Michigan girl?
Ok who wants me??? Not sure if anyone has been following the situation in Michigan but we're on the verge of a partial gov't shutdown.
My state is going HELL. No police, no liquor, no lottery, no regulation on gas, some school districts may be forced to close during the shut down....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..
I feel like we're on the brink of 1984 or some crazy shit.
Earlier today they announced that:
The Michigan State Police say their forces will be reduced by 90% if the state government shuts down due to a lack of a budget agreement.
222 troopers, 15 sergeants, 3 lieutenants and a handful of dispatchers will be serving the entire state for emergency services only.
(Info for those that have no idea wtf I'm talking about)
State Budge Negotiations.
Legislators will resume negotiations to solve Michigan's budget crisis at 1 p.m. today.
Michigan is teetering on the edge of a partial government shutdown. The self-imposed midnight deadline has come and gone with no agreement.
Shutdown preparations are under way as 48 hours remain to fill the more than $1.7 billion dollar deficit. This time yesterday many lawmakers were quite optimistic, but that is not as true anymore.
The House and Senate waited anxiously until 1:00 a.m. when they were told they would stop until one this afternoon. Lots of boos and yells followed and the finger pointing returned. Democrats even circulated a memo written by the State Republican Chair urging Republican lawmakers to shift the blame to Governor Jennifer Granholm.
The official deadline is Midnight Sunday.
The state plans to address details of a partial government shutdown later today. There’s a promise I need you to make

Are you housebroke?
I was reading this on another forum, I can't believe they're shutting down part of the government there, a friend just recently moved to Milan last month with her husband maybe they'll move back! Sounds like Michigan's goin to hell in a hand basket. I wonder how long it will be before another state is headed the same way.

As a college student you can imagine the chaos on campus today as we get closer and closer to the possibility of no more liquor.

Damn and I thought it sucked that Grady Memorial Hospital was having budget problems and trying to shut down here.
Move to Georgia. Who really needs a Level 1 Trauma center when you still have alcohol and the po-leese?

Just remember that transporting alcohol over state lines is against the law.

Come out west, minimum age for Trooper Cadet is now 19-1/2. We have hired city cops out of Detroit PD since 1985. Out of state applicants are welcome. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.-- Anonymous

Gee thanks Autum, going back to a previous thread, now I have John Lennons "Imagine" going through my head.
On the other hand ,as stated, it is a scare tactic,It has been used down here quite frequently ,of course we just say,"OK,shut down",(we can get our liquor across the line in Miss.)
