you might be an american if
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, "One nation, under God."
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You still say "Christmas" instead of "Winter Festival."
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You bow your head when someone prays.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You treat Viet Nam vets with great respect, and always have.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never burned an American flag.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

You forgot a couple. If you call something a World series but only have American teams in it. And only play contact sports if wearing 2 tons of body armour.

The man who will go where his colors go, without asking who will fight a phantom foe in the jungle and mountain range, without counting, and who will suffer and die in the midst of incredible hardship, without complaint, is still what he has always been, from Imperial Rome to sceptered Britain to democratic America. He is the stuff of which legions are made. ...His pride is in his colors and his regiment, his training hard and thorough and coldly realistic, to fit him for what he must face...and his obedience is to his orders. He has been called United State Marine.

This is not going to be a popular comment, but screw it, I'm a true American and don't give a flip:
I'm not Christian, so some of these don't apply to me, but I'm no less of a True American for it. If anything, I appreciate more than most that I live in a country that DOES allow me to celebrate my faith. Anyone can be happy with their neighbors when you all believe the same thing, it's another thing entirely to risk being ostracized because someone saw a symbol on your necklace that they misunderstood. I may be ostracized, but I won't be killed/tortured/deported.

Agreed Ducky!
I am not Christian either yet I believe myself to be a true American as well. Its great that I can practice any religion I choose when I choose to do so. Its great that I can be me. In another country I would not be so lucky. So...
