Met the Recruiter Today
Found out quite alot of info today. My chances of deployment are 50/50. Actually I wouldn't mind it, it would be quite a switch from everyday normal life. If I can get a waiver for age and for an old knee condition I'm about 95% sure I'll sign. The only reason I'm not at 100% is because my wife hasn't gave me her final opinion yet. I learned today that my financial situation would be no problem, in fact with all the perks you get with dependants I'd be making out about the same. It also looks like combat engineering for a MOS as well. He told me a week for an answer on the waivers. Really got my fingers crossed.

I just want you to really think about this. If you get deployed you won't see your wife for a very extended period of time.
Just think long and hard.
Personally I would not do it.

02-05-06, 11:58 PM #13True. When I find out if I get the waiver or not then it's serious discussion time. I would be gone 13 weeks for boot, home two weeks, and then 12 weeks for engineering school. If deployed I would be gone for 7 months. I know it'll be rough but 10 years from now when I have a LE job and can call myself a Marine it will have been worth it.

Aaaahhh, the good old ASVAB (Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Test)....I still remember going to the MEPS station and peeing in a cup in front of others and a room full of recruits with their drawers dropped, getting weighed in...ahh, never mind, I don't wanna scare you.

Well, I'm supposed to hear about my waivers tomorrow, according to my recruiter.
Yeah, like I really believe I'll get an answer that fast.
