Should Schools be gun free
I would like to know what the general impression is on this topic. Do you think that Schools should be "gun free zones"? Do you think that if a college students or a teacher meet the requirements that they should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon if they have a permit and choose to do so. Before anyone goes off topic, do your research on your state laws and look at the requirement that one would have to go through to acquire a permit to carry a handgun. For example in my state of MN you must meet the following requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must complete an application form.
- Must not be prohibited from possessing a firearm.
- Must not be listed in the criminal gang investigation system.
- Must be a resident of the county from which you are requesting a permit if you reside in Minnesota. Non-residents may apply to any Minnesota county sheriff.
- Must provide certificate of completed authorized firearms training. Training by a certified instructor and completed within one year prior to applying for a permit to carry.

I say no, CCW permit holders should be able to carry in a school.
Willing and able teachers and proffessors should be encouraged to obtain their permit and carry if they feel inclined to do so. This would be a major deterrent to anymore school shootings, as well as stop them in their tracks should one be initiated."Like" us on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Offic...93147194083228

CCW holders should be allowed to carry on school property. Because if you have decent people that are capable shooters, you may be able to quickly put down a repeat of Virginia Tech or Columbine and save lives.

Exactly guys...but the anti-gunners don't get that. Until they do, we will continue to see tragedies like Columbine and Virgina Tech.

Excatly...
Most of the anti-gun lobbyists do not understand it at all, your absolutely correct. I know our departments policy on active shooters on campus is to neutralize the threat by any means necessary.

Should schools be gun-free? Of course.
Will they ever be gun-free? No, of course not. And we see what happens- Columbine, VA Tech, Jonesboro, Arkanasas, I could go on. The only rational, logical answer is to allow the good, honest citizens at these schools allowed to carry guns as well.

I'm against gun free zones as a matter of principle.
I'd tier it however. In primary and secondary schools, only the teachers who desired to and met the standards for CCW.
In college, any adult who can meet the standard for a CCW.

I can legally carry my gun on school and college campuses, and have done so.

Maybe I carried on campus even though it was not permitted by the private university that I attended. No one would have ever known though. I was never stopped or made to walk through a metal detector. Good thing a crazy person did't try.

I was going to vote for a gun free USA, but thought you'd all guess who it was anyway, so didn't.

I voted that I'm a sheep. Because I am!

But actually I think if a school is in a state where most adults can carry guns anyway, a gun-free zone can't really be enforced--if people want to bring guns to school, they will regardless of what the rules are. So trying to make schools gun-free zones seems like a waste of energy that could be better spent campaigning against global warming or something.

I voted yes, with exceptions, Faculty with CCW or L.E.. I think that someone in L.E. or a faculty member has passed the test of time and is a little more responsible than the average student.. Plus the faculty member and the L.E. have clearly idenifiable I.D. to see in plain view, Clip on faculty card, agency badge to assist responding officers to tell the good guys from the bad guys. After on duty police personell arive on scene and start clearing, the excepted people would be cleared out along with everyone else and debriefed on what they did and saw.

I don't think it should be gun-free. Just like what Rhino said and playing off what lewisipso said the schools may never be gun-free. Schools tend to accumulate jealous out-casts and some of them are pushed to the ultimate limit. A school being "gun-free" would not stop them from causing terror on a school. I think if a faculty member has the proper training, permits, and psych eval. they should be able to carry. As well as L.E. That's just my take on the issue...

i voted yes. not because im a sheep. have yall seen 99% of kids on a college campus lately? i wouldnt trust them to shoot a water gun straight much less a firearm. and not only that just because some one has a concealed carry license dosnt mean that they will actually use it should something happen.

I actually have to agree with JENNA, people are going to do it if they want anyways. I think it would be a good idea to try and get a ccw list just because then you can get an idea of who is carrying. No matter how hard you try, you will never be able to stop all bad incidents from happening, but you can have someone stop it from getting worse if it is happening
