Damn thing crawled under someones carport and they called us.

It was the funniest shit I have seen in a while. Lewis was sneaking around the vehicle under the carport trying to get a good picture of it and the old woman opens the door and starts asking where it was, in her ' I am talking loud because I am old and can't hear so I will scream voice '. Lew wasn't but maybe 2 feet away from it when it started to hiss and move around.

We chase those creatures down here too.

One day we had one in the street and it had been hit by a car. They send another deputy out to remove it from the road if it was dead and if alive to let disptach know so they could call a trapper out. Well, ex401mp and I show up to block traffic for poor deputy. He isn't sure if it is alive or not...but he doesn't want to take a chance to get real close if he doesn't have to in case the alligator jumps up and eats him or something. So, said deputy decided to try and stretch out his leg and bump it with his foot a few times..and the poor thing doesn't move. So said deputy gets brave even though you could tell he still wasn't sure about the status of the gator and is going to grab the tail and drag it off the road. As soon as he grabbed the tail, ex401mp hit his air horn and the poor deputy must have jumped about 10 feet in the air. I laughed so damn hard..tears were flowing down my face. No wonder people get worried when we work together...

There is a lake at the end of one of our airport runways that several of those suckers call home.

About two weeks ago, three of them decided to get out of the lake and sun themselves near the end of our main runway. (ON THE RUNWAY!)

One of 'em was the big one - about a 14 footer - the grandaddy of the bunch I guess. Now we have passenger flights inbound, and since that 14 footer would make one helluva speed bump on the runway, the ATC guys had to orbit a couple of aircraft while the airport operations folks went out there to scoot 'em off the runway and back to the lake.

Who says airport security is dull?

I can only hope the pilots got to announce the reason for the delay. "Well folks, looks like we'll be circling for a few, they've got to move a gator off the runway. If they didn't, the next few flights would be having "chicken" for the in-flight meal."
