My name is Chubby....ALL OFFICER.COM MEMBERS READ THIS!
Hello. My name is Chubby. I am new here. I am a former member of officer.com under a different name. I got an e-mail from officer.com today saying that personal information from it's users had been stolen and I no longer feel safe there. I heard about this site from a friend and wanted to check it out. Here is the e-mail I got from officer.com...
Attention Officer.com Forum Users:
As one of the nation's leading business-to-business media companies, we are proud of our website forums and their ability to connect industry leaders to discuss and disseminate critical topics and trends that affect their business and market.
As part of this program, we put a premium on our informational and technical security measures.
During our normal security detection, we intercepted non-standard access by an unauthorized third party. Although the problem was quickly identified and resolved, some limited user data such as email addresses, user names, passwords and birth dates may have been compromised. No credit card information or social security data were accessed.
While we can only speculate as to the purpose of this intrusion, we feel it is our responsibility to inform you about this questionable access so that you may be on guard. As a matter of policy, Cygnus and its media properties will never ask you for confidential information via email. If you are contacted by any source requesting such information, we would advise you to view the request with great caution.
At Cygnus, your security and privacy are our top concerns. We have implemented additional measures going forward to further minimize the risk of any future unauthorized access issues. We are also asking that all forum users immediately change their password. To assist in this process, you will be prompted to change your forum password the next time you enter one. We would also advise that you regularly change your passwords wherever you do business.
As always, we will continue to proactively monitor user activity to detect any questionable usage.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact dparsha@cygnusb2b.com.

The individual is a previously banned user, so he was banned. I have confirmed his post is legit.
If I were an Officer.com forums user, I would be greatly concerned, and frankly, would be unable to ever trust there forums again. The privacy and security of our site, and especially our Verified LEO area, is something I have preached from day one. I just hope the hackers who got those officers personal information do not attempt to harass, or cause problems for those officers in their personal lives or on the job.

Just goes to show that you should never post personal information on the internet. Anything you post you should imagine your parents, spouse, children, boss and worst enemy reading.

I got the same message. I was a Officer.com member...that is where I learned of this site. Glad I was there for that....the azzholes over there just banned me for a sarcastic comment stating that they want to keep the site "professional".....I guess they should start banning all the trolls first....no sense of humor. F em. This is better. Keep up the good work.
