Cold, rain, snow.....range day
What a wonderful day to go to the range to re-qualify. Supposed to rain and snow this evening and this is a night fire. Good grief. Just wondering how other departments conduct range details, do you do it outdorrs in bad weather, how many use indoor ranges etc... Just interested in how others do it.
Stay safe, let's all go home.

We have an outdoor range.

Where I worked the only time they didn't reschedule due to weather was the academy. Got to enjoy the rain, snow, mud, etc.

We qualed back in april. On day 1 it snowed and rained. On day 2 it was just cold.

Now I qual again on Monday and it is supposed to be raining.
We don't change our plans just because of the weather!

In all seriousness, I would rather shoot when it is cold than have to deal with the heat and bugs. Besides it is hunting season in these parts so it is my favorite time to be on a range anyway.
Stay safe, let's all go home.

Our range is outside. We have to qualify no matter what the weather. It poured during my qual this year. It sucked.

Practicing in all types of weather is good. Shootings happen at all times of the day, night, year, weather, etc. Suck it up and practice - it may save your life.
Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.

We have two different ranges we qualify at, one indoor and one outdoor. Just depends on which one they pick for us to us that time. Last we at the outdoor range it was about 35 degrees and windy. Luckily there was no rain or anything, just the cold.

We normally have to qualify in all types of weather too but last week it was thundering and lightning when we went and it just so happened that our chief was qualifying with us and he said he wont shooting in the thunderstorm that the range master will just have to reschedule so we got out of that one. He only has three months till retirement so he didnt want to get struck by lightning.
I'm ready for spring!

Outdoor range here in the lovely Ohio weather. I'm all for "practice like you play" so only grumble slightly if the weather is bad when we shoot.
