What's your main crime
To me these trends seem to change over time but what do you perceive to be your area's current biggest or most consistant crime? Ours seems to be guns and shootings at the moment. People actually being shot and or "shots fired" in some fashion.
And don't check the UCR, your state or local statistics either. What is your personal perception?Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

The crime that we deal with the most is Larceny, followed closely by Breaking and Entering. Of course, most of it is caused by the out of control drug problem in my area.

street robberies and business robberies are killing us here. We'll get them eventually but it will probably end in a shoot out. I hope it doesn't end that way but they are getting bolder and bolder. Can you imagine walking down the street minding your business and two or three dudes jumping out of the bushes pistol whipping you and taking your shit.

Stats show theft from shops and theft from motor vehicles as the higest.
Domestic assaults and assaults or damage to property from neighbour/ friend disputes are also high on the list.
The assaults take up more officer time.
Of course drugs are the driving force behind almost all theft and related offences.

The man who will go where his colors go, without asking who will fight a phantom foe in the jungle and mountain range, without counting, and who will suffer and die in the midst of incredible hardship, without complaint, is still what he has always been, from Imperial Rome to sceptered Britain to democratic America. He is the stuff of which legions are made. ...His pride is in his colors and his regiment, his training hard and thorough and coldly realistic, to fit him for what he must face...and his obedience is to his orders. He has been called United State Marine.

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Jenna, I'm not speaking from a professional number cruncher's point of view, but one difference that pops right out to me is shift - another difference could be area patrolled/assigned - I know in the city I live, there is a huge difference from one district to another

And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

Drunks, domestics, D.C.'s, bar fights.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.
Winston Churchill
