Why did you pick your avatar, tagline, and signature? What do they mean, represent, or refer to?

My avatar and tagline refer to Lt. Col. (Ret.) Dave Grossman's essay on sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs:

I'm clearly a sheep.

I don't have a signature because as a sheep I don't really live by any particular idea, but just go along with the flow of my flock.

Cidp24 - CID = Criminal Investigations Division, where I worked when I signed up. P24= Badge number.

Tagline is a line from a song "Somewhere in the Sun" by Kenny Chesney. Jost Van Dyke is an island in the British Virgin Islands, pictured in my avatar. It's pretty small, laid back and in some ways primitive with a population of about 500 that live there. Another line from the song is in my signature below. The lines and song pretty much sum up my attitude most of the time.

The line below that is from the movie 300 and I simply liked the line for it's application to the job. To me it means "As long as you're breathing, dont give up."

My avatar is the Army jump wings. I was a paratrooper in the Army. Parachute training was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I had over 40 jumps during my time in the Army and I am very proud of this accomplishment. I have lots of paratrooper momentos around the house.

My avatar is a photo of myself taken by my wife. My tag line is because I feel all green and furry and my signature line is a disclaimer that my posts reflect that my department has warped my mind and it's all their fault.

My avatar is just me flying the Mafia colors same with the tag line. My signature is some of the ideas I live by and OX was a very close friend. The quote speaks for itself.

Name is from a series of books I have read...the Wolven are the international police force for the community of shape shifters...pretty neat characters with special abilities. First thing I could think of...

Avatar is just a wolf...I liked the picture

Signatures: pretty self explanatory...I am a wee bit of a trouble maker at work..hence the first one. The last two are firm beliefs that I hold...I would rather die fighting then give up and I am willing to bleed or die to keep a brother (or sister safe). Willing to keep the sheep safe too.

My Avatar is one of the horses I helped to train for the Mounted Unit, he loves to play with traffic cones. My signiture is a reminder to live life to it's fullest, and to laugh along the way, don't take life so seriously that you forget the funnier side of things. And not to let fear run your life, show a brave front when everyone around you is losing it and lead the way.

I change my avatar, depending on my mood. Right now, it's Agent 99 from Get Smart - one of my favorite tv shows of my youth.

My tag line changes too, but reflects my belief that sometimes it's the journey, not the destination.

My signature? Quotes that I admire and adhere to as much as possible.

Jenna, I understand your post is tongue-in-cheek, as is your avatar and title. I have liberal friends and they too were offended or disagreed with Grossman's essay.

What I tried to tell them, and you now, is that I can understand why someone who doesn't have the warrior mindset may disagree with Col. Grossman. However don't take it so personally. He's not talking about every aspect of humanity, he's talking in terms that are simple for us warriors to understand.

Clearly we are a tribal animal, and every member of their tribe has their role. But the warrior must really be on the look-out for dangerous elements (the wolves) as he protects other members of the tribe who are not warriors (the "sheep").

It's not meant to demean, degrade, or downplay any other person's chosen role or path. It just simply brings into focus for guys and gals like me what we have always believed, but didn't have the creativity to put into words.

Now, going back to topic, my answer is simple. One of the singlemost bad ass one-liners in B-movie history. If you don't already know it, it's from the movie They Live. Here's the clip (Mild Language). My sig line is simple and true. Obnoxious sig lines tend to annoy me.

My avatar is a Washington personalized plate with my old car number on it. In my shop, the sheriff was car 1 and the four chiefs were 2 thru 5. Field ops, Special ops, CID and Tech Services.

The first signature line is a quote from Winston Churchill...one of the few people who really understood what was at stake as WW II started in eastern Europe. His philosophy was very simple...survival. And you had to do what you had to do to insure it for your way of life.

The second line is a quote from a Spartan King.....not very nice people in general but they understood something about humanity that others often miss. This quote reflects it. The greek warrior caste basically began the concept of formal education and it was only for warriors in the beginning. As time went on, that changed and perhaps not for the better.

Mine is Mike the tiger -the LSU mascot(actually it is just a cool tiger pic that symbolizes Mike) ,Patrol Sgt.,to show I am an actual working cop,and not a "desk" Sgt.(I know,paper pushers,let the flaming begin

Regarding my signature, I am a former member of the LNC, I will take verbal abuse for spare change, and I felt like showing off some of my signature banners.
