SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Beauty pageant organizers were investigating Sunday who doused a contestant's evening gowns with pepper spray and spiked her makeup, causing her to break out in hives.

Does pepper spray cause people to break out in hives? I thought it just made people cry.

I guess having one's skin break out in hives could make one cry.

i've heard those beauty pageant people can get CRAZY with the stuff they do to win.
i've also heard the kid ones are the worst, with parents going out of their way to sabatoge other contestants.
and don't even get me STARTED on the dog show crowd,

Oh, it's a load of bullskank and she's making it up. As an OC instructor, I'm hard pressed to buy her story. I'm thinking its all part of the game of pagentry.

Having been in a few pageants, I don't doubt it. OC wasn't publicly available at the time, but oh the things girls would do!! Sabotage was common - breaking dress zippers, tearing nylons, damaging makeup... a girl in one pageant I was in woke up to find a dead rabbit in front of her hotel room door. The bigger pageants (regardless of age level) do seem to have a "win at all costs" mentality.
The true measure of your character is what you choose to do when you think no one is looking.
