I was looking for a good news story about yesterday's event, but the best stuff is on the home page!

I thought this meant that RSA was going to take me out to buy me some new shoes. J/K

Kudos to everyone involved with that, especially those individuals who chipped in a little bit more.

Some children went over the $100 and officers chipped in to help cover the cost of tax/etc.

"Shop with a Cop" is such a wonderful program. I wish that our department had the funding to do something on that scale.

If you look at the top of the page you will see the pin they sell as a fundraiser.

The agencies rotate responsibilty as to who is "in charge" every year, but every agency in the county participates.

For the officers, it all volunteer. They also have volunteers come in and wrap al the presents.

I'll have to check and see if any agencies in this area are doing it and if not, I may just have to show that article to a few people as an idea for next year. Thanks, PDawg.

My agency does it. Makes you feel good when you can do something like that for an unfortunate kid.

That's awesome, Term. And not only are you providing them with your time and material things, you're also giving them such a positive impression of LEOs, one that hopefully they'll carry with them throughout their lives.

At least until they grow up and meet me on the wrong side of the law.

our agency does shop with a cop too. all of the agencies around here do. walmart helps out alot with our program they donate alot of stuff to make it work. we havent had our shopping day yet and we havent had as much money come in this year as what we have had in the past. chief is getting concerned
