Help me understand video cameras - for the tech geeks here
In the market for a new video camera but stymied by the DVD versus HD versus DVD mini etc. Here is where the techies get to tell the tech dinosaur what is better. At this time, the DVD write versions have my interest.
Teach me oh techie ones!

I wish I could be of help, but I have an ancient JVC that uses little mini video tapes.
I'd also be interested in hearing from people on this, it would be cool to capture some moments with the kids other than in photos.I'm your huckleberry...

Get the one you can figure out how to use so it does not sit in the closet. HD is nice but we have lived without HD up till a few years, DVD is a good call, but most computers can convert video onto DVD disks now to (if you have a dvd burner).

New computer in 2008 but I'm looking for easy as my wife just wants to burn the video straight to disk.

The new Sony Handycam is nice. No tapes needed. Small, compact, fits in your hand....great to take on vacations, amusement parks, etc. Very user friendly.
