sickness remedies?
So...I'm starting to feel like crap. Lethargic, slightly feverish, headache and that sinus drainage that wears out your throat and makes it hurt like hell. I don't want to call in sick tomorrow, as I am not a big "sick time taker"...anyone have any advice on what to do to feel better? I'm pounding orange juice and bought some cough drops...and I'm planning on gettin' my nyquil on in a few. Anything else (short or eating boiled fish testicles or something else gross...i think i'd rather feel like shit)

Whiskey. If that don't cure it, nothing will.
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

Echinacea and zinc lozenges have been shown to work better than placebo in some (but not all) trials. Can't hurt to try.

Hot toddies, or even hot buttered rum. Hot tea with lemon. Apply any of those and wrap yourself in a blanket, then sleep for as long as you can.

Yessiree Bob. Hot toddy is the way to go, but you will sweat your ass off. Good call Ducky.
1 tbsp honey
3/4 glass tea
2 shots brandy (make it 3)
1 slice lemon
Brew tea and fill a tall glass 3/4 full. Mix in honey. Mix in brandy shots. Add lemon slice and enjoy.
Give it a shot or 3 and tell us how you make out.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

Layers, put as many items of clothing on, then get under a lot of blankets and try and sleep as long as you can and hopefully you can sweat it out

Just a thought...
If you're really sick like that, stay home.
There are two reasons. First, your squad mates probably don't want your cold, flu, or whatever you've got. Second, you're not going to be close to 100%. Your focus will be off, you won't be thinking straight, and you just plain won't be working at your best. Not a problem for an office drone who shuffles paper or an IT weenie who spends their day on a computer. Big issue for a cop. That odor you miss might be the clue to get out of the meth lab before it blows -- or the huge load of weed that you don't find.
But... To get better faster, I do a couple of things. I try to sleep under with as much to keep me warm as I can stand; sweats under blankets with the electric blanket turned up. And I'll take a long shower, as hot as I can stand it. Zicam and other zinc lozenges do seem to help get over a cold faster, and I'll usually take some extra vitamin C. Sometimes, I'll take advantage of the sauna at the gym -- but I prefer the moist heat of the shower if my throat and nose are already sore.Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

Hot tea, 2 tablespoons honey and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Everytime I get that funny feeling like I'm getting a cold I take that and haven't had a cold for years. If you already have a cold take it twice a day and you'll be over it in 2 - 3 days.

Jagermeister. 2-3 shots, or a few coffee mugs as I once did, before going to bed and you're good to go.
