Valentine's Day
So it is right around the corner.
What are you getting your ladies?? Is it the same thing every year? Roses and chocolates? Are you going out to dinner? Do you dread this holiday? Or enjoy it
And since most are guys here....do you expect something from her or is it a day where she just gets spoiled?? I usually get something for my husband, but he insisted that I didn't this year. He thinks it is more for the ladies. Of course I got him a mushy card.

Paul took me to a very nice dinner at the officers club this past saturday night because he is gone with his command all week on some training mission.
That and he bought me a Tempurpedic bed which fucking rocks!!! I have NEVER slept without pain until now.
I got him some new boxing gloves and a bag-- the bag i am putting up tomorrow in our overhang garage on the side of the house so he can punch it a bunch. He thinks I just got him a card

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

I dread Valentine's Day because someone very close to me died that day.
I could never celebrate it. But I'm happy when I see or hear about other people celebrating it. Reminds me that life can still go on for some, even after it has ended for others.

Honestly, I think this is a bull shit holiday. It may have started out with the best of intentions, but it has turned into a corporate holiday. I've always hated "having" to by my significant other something to "show" her how much I love her.
Why the hell do I need a special day to show her how much I love her? Were the flowers I sent to her the previous 26 weeks not enough? Were the times I said that I loved her as I was walking out the door to go where ever I was going not enough? What about that time we sit cuddling in front of the fire place just talking? Does that mean nothing as well?
Women who get upset because their man didn't do anything on Valentines day need to wake up and smell the roses that he sent you how many times throughout the previous year.
Just because I didn't do something on this one day, which shouldn't even be considered a holiday anymore, doesn't mean I don't love you. If for some crazy reason I do decide to go all out on Valentines day, you damn well better do the same.
