I heard this over the radio from Clark Howard a couple of hours ago.

It seems there's a new term (whaling) and virus floating on the internet.
If you receive an email from the federal Govt. Re. case pending or something similar, you better not open it. As, it will not only send a worm into your system but can copy your passwords, personal information and take monies out of credit cards account.
I may be wrong, but if the Feds want to get in touch with you they do it Via the US mail and not over the internet.

REEKS of urban legend. As a general rule, unless you have some crazy ass setting defined, simply opening an email will NOT automatically download (and open/execute) a file.
