...I still keep my CCW current because I like carrying something different than my duty weapon. I recommend that anyone who can get a CCW should.

It seems he made it pretty obvious to me...

haha! Thanks MC And I think you're right. I've been agonizing over what to start with for the past 2 days. Worst part is finding one that will carry my USP Compact, and deciding if I want to have to slide it on and off a belt or not.

Because in GA, and I imagine many other states, cops have to go through the NCIC background check when they buy a new gun. Permit holders do not. One of many reasons LEOs should have a carry permit.

All I did was get hired by the Police Department and I can carry to any state I want. I dont need no stinking CCW card. Just a nice little plastic picture card that says POPO

Sure, if those are the only guns you will ever want. Must be boring only having two guns.

What does having to go through a NCIC background check have to do with anything? You make that sound like its a big deal.

It can take up to three days for the NCIC check to come back. I do not have to wait because I am a permit holder. Takes me 15 minutes to buy a gun and thats with the drive.

Actually most gun stores here offer big discounts to cops. Why do you say you can get them cheaper?

You dont buy guns at police stations. It can and does take time for FFLs to do the NCIC check.

Figgered you were, but since a lot of new cops dont realize that they still have to jump through hoops to buy a new gun, I thought I would edgemicate ya.
