Has your supervisor thanked you lately?
Has your lieutenant, captain, major, Asst. chief or the chief called you into his or her office lately to thank you for doing a good job?
Or, is the only time you hear from the top brass, is when they call you in on the carpet, to chew your A$$ out?
For all those who are not in LE...Has your supervisor or boss walked up to you lately and thanked you for doing a good job or vice versa?

My SGT and LT can be micromanagers and a little difficult to deal with sometimes. I have however gotten several attaboys from the LT lately for good reports. The SGT has also complimented the unit a few times recently too. All in all it's preety good working for them and I can't complain much. The Captain is demanding but fair. He's a young guy who was a street warrior. Most guys want to do good work for him. You are afraind of disappointing him, not because you are afraid of punishment but you don't want to let him down. I can't complain much about the chain of command here.

To all of you LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS out there busting your asses to make my country a safer place to live in , THANK YOU! Your doing a marvelous job. I am proud of each and every one of you. Be safe out there and have a great day.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

My sgt and his sgt both sat me down the other day and told me how much they appreciated my work and that they were going to see that I got every chance to be recognized for what I do. And my sgt was talking to someone the other day and I overheard him talking about how he doesn't need to check up on me or anything cause he knows that I don't need my hand held.

Actually they gave me our Law Enforcement Person of the Year award for '07. I was shocked since there were about 4 other guys I felt should have got it. When they told me about it they pretended they were calling me in for a butt chewing.
My Sgt was gone last week but I think he has a butt chewing session in the works. I told a dispatcher to shut up on the radio the other night. I was amped a bit, and I know it was wrong, but when I'm pointing my gun a people I prefer to have radio silence. It is not the time for filling the blanks in CAD about what color car he was driving or the name of the motel we are at."You will learn more with your ears than you will your mouth!"

My supervisors, and dept. admin are very good about giving us a pat on the back when we deserve it.
I've only been with my dept. for 2 years, and have 3 letters of commendation. One from my Sgt., and two from department admin.
They make me want to do a good job. I like it.No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends - John 15:13

My Lt. has two Sgts. under him. (Myself and another guy.) We supervise two different groups of Deputies in different locations, but have the same Lt.
His other Sgt., the Lt. rarely knows where he is or what he's doing, and sometimes if he's even going to work on any given day. But he is constantly telling me that he doesn't have to worry about things getting done and done correctly in my area, because he knows that I'm there and on the job.
(It really isn't hard to show up every day and do your job. Especially when you enjoy what you're doing, and have a great crew working for you.)
He has given me the best performance evals that I've ever gotten from any of my past supervisors.
Guess it pays to keep the boss happy.

At the nuke plant, I hear good job a lot. At the FD, I get it as well. I've gotten my fair share of ass chewings too. The best one was, "That's funny as hell! Just don't do it again"
I've yet to here it at the PD. Doesn't bother me though because I don't get chewed out either.

I try to thank my guys as often as I think of it. It helps moral to do that. I learned that from a certain Captain I know.

Had a commendation from the Area Commander for one of my investigations into a domestic violence case which resulted in a 2.5 yr prison sentence and subsequent deportation for a first offence. Though apart from that we rarely get a "well done".

I actually got a letter in the mail signed by the Sheriff as an atta boy. When I first saw the envelope in the mail box I thought that they had fired my ass.
