Adopt-a-Marine
I got the ok from Reca to post this, so here's hoping some of you can help.
After my brother did a tour in Iraq (Marines), I still felt the need to help the troops over there. I found this program to be fantastic and I took care of a Marine until he came home.
I just received an email saying they need help for 600 Marines and 200 Sailors.
Here's the email I received:
Hello Adopt a Marine Sponsors,
We are in need for additional packages to go to Iraq.
We have contact names for 3 Companies of Marines and 1 Company of Sailors.
These packages need to be sent to a contact person in each company.
Each company has basically the same needs, some more hygiene and some more snacks.
If everyone sent just one box to just one Company, we would really hook them up.
Please email us back for an name and mailing address.
Thank you all so very much.

this is a great idea...
I was going to ask the site if I could post something similar for Pauls guys (200 of them) who are heading over in August. Many of them want to be cops when they get out and I thought it would be a good thing for them. They deploy August 5-15 and are gone until March 09 or so. I will be sending care boxes with all the wives and kids every 2 weeks. When Paul gets over there he will have the addy for me. Even if someone writes a letter- getting mail is a wonderful thing for the guys out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do!
cool post!!!!http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion
